Hundreds of URA members attended the Coalition led Town Hall on Flexible Work Arrangements Thursday, November 20. More than 500 members from our unions signed up to come together to discuss the rumors that Rutgers management is changing our remote work arrangements and agreed to collectively fight back.

A majority of those attending reported having approved remote work arrangements in place and wanted to keep them.

Highlights from Thursday’s meeting polls include:

  • Improvements to work/life balance are due to increased remote work;
  • Across Rutgers, employees are more productive and are getting the work done effectively;
  • Students are happier with virtual options and their privacy is ensured in sensitive situations;
  • Improvements to work/life balance are due to increased remote work;
  • The environment is improved by taking more cars off the road and parking on campus is more available.

Additionally, members noted that Rutgers’ top employer ranking is correlated with the remote work program and has direct causation on URA members’ employee satisfaction.

Members expressed a willingness to fight to retain this mutually beneficial program. Fill out this form and help by indicating your willingness to host a building meeting and organize colleagues towards improving our working conditions.
