In conjunction with our partner Coalition of Rutgers Unions (CRU) members and leaders, URA has been successful in restoring New Jersey budget dollars to Rutgers University across our three main campuses and off campus locations including New Jersey Experiment Agricultural Station (NJAES). Congratulations on this job-saving win to those who took action!
URA partnered with the Rutgers Government Relations workers (special shout out to URA members there) and union presidents across the state to bring back program dollars and increase state lines to fund staff and faculty positions. But it is your letters and involvement that pushed your local elected assembly and senate representatives to support staff members, who are frequently overlooked during these negotiations, to the forefront and restore NJ State budget dollars to Rutgers University.
Though many earmarked aid dollars were eliminated, more than $40.4 million in operating funds were added to our Chancellor Led Units (CLUs) and we understand there is a commitment from President Tate to continue to fund our positions.
Thank you, URA members, for writing and calling your legislators over the past months. Thank you, URA members, for your continued advocacy that takes away one excuse from Rutgers to not give us our deserved raises. Now let’s work together to get a STRONG CONTRACT NOW for raises and other improvements for all URA members.
