Some members whose jobs have been reclassified lately report that they were required to submit resignation letters as a condition of having their position reclassified. There is no reason you should resign in order to be reclassified. Even if you switch jobs as the result of a promotion, you are not “resigning”. The risk is that if we sign a letter without a written offer or proof of a new position, we could find ourselves with no job at all. No reclassification is complete until management notifies the URA of the new title, position and salary.
If you are asked to resign for any reason, please reach out to your nearest union rep, or union@ura-aft.org.
