Start Last Fiscal Year? Check Your Vacation Days

PTO workshop discovers something fishy

New URA members gathered on Zoom last week to learn the ins and outs of Paid Time Off under the URA Contract. We learned some disturbing news from members about vacation accruals for recent hires.

Article 54 of the URA-Rutgers Agreement refers to University Policy 60.3.10. And that policy provides for our members to accrue 1 day of vacation time for each full month worked in their first fiscal year. Once a new fiscal year begins, members accrue 1.25 days of vacation time per month.

A new member checked with One Source because she noticed her accrual rate still showed one day per month and was told something erroneous: that she would accrue only 1 day per month until completing a full year of employment.

If you started at Rutgers (between July 2, 2023 and June 30, 2024) go to your Rutgers portal to check your accrual rate. You should be receiving 1.25 days per month for the new fiscal year.

If that is NOT the case, please screenshot your accrual and email to union@ura-aft.org.

When union members gather together, we educate each other. Then we take action. Tell your co-workers, if you are not at the union table, you may soon find yourself on the menu.
