Update July 6, 2026: This bill is on hold until the legislature reconvenes. We are removing the sign on for now. The bill, S4516/A5337 would create a new 13-member State Health Benefits Commission, which will vote on what the health plans cost and what they cover. The commission will be made up of officials from state and local government, public higher education, public sector unions, two law enforcement unions and the firefighters union. This would give union workers the opportunity to implement cost-saving measures we have seen work in other states without sacrificing quality of care.
