New Jersey residents have one State Senator and two State Representatives. These state legislators are very important. They have control over Rutgers’ spending.
Call them and tell them:
Hello, my name is: ___________. I’m a constituent from [town] ______ and I work at Rutgers University.
Rutgers is already responding to Trump and Musk’ s cuts to research funding by laying off unionized staff… the people at the lower end of the pay scale.
New Jersey needs our work and needs us to be at work. We need your help to protect jobs at Rutgers by requiring the University to use unrestricted reserve funds to prevent layoffs.
It’s the unionized workers who get the job done. Not the Executive Deans, VPs or Chancellors. Rutgers can survive only if we work together.
Will Senator _____________ / Assemblyperson _____________ work with us to earmark funding in Rutgers 2025-2026 allocation to protect unionized staff at Rutgers?
Can you set up a meeting for us to talk about saving jobs at Rutgers?
