Members who review the internal URA job postings at Rutgers now see in the work arrangements category in new postings that availability of Flexwork is redirected to our contract language. This means that FlexWork is subject to Article 59 in the URA contract and not the Rutgers pilot program that ends August 31.
URA Contract: Article 59 – Flexible Work Arrangements, Article 17 – Job Openings
This is a win for all of us and provides clarity for new and seasoned URA employees. We had to bring it to UHR’s attention for the correction but we now have the change!
We negotiated FlexWork to be a part of our contract to be more inclusive and expanded the definitions of Flexwork to be more expansive. While many members are being approved for seasonal remote work, our contract language is being utilized as intended. Additionally, we improved Article 17: Job Openings in our contract to require at least 2 URA internal candidates who are qualified and apply during the first 5 day internal posting period to be interviewed.
Please consider reviewing internal job opportunities here and let us know if you benefit from our expanded contractual language to union@ura-aft.org. We may contact you to tell your story as we prepare for our upcoming contract campaign.
