President Trump has called TRIO programs a “relic of the past when financial incentives were needed to motivate″ colleges to increase access to low-income students. Across the country, TRIO serves nearly 870,000 students and adult learners through nearly 3,500 individual programs.

“Rutgers University-New Brunswick has three TRIO programs, Upward Bound Math-Science, Student Support Services, and McNair, working with hundreds of first-generation, low-income, and minority students from high school to undergraduates to students pursuing doctoral degrees,” said Senior Program Coordinator Brittany J. Martino. “We need your help to tell U.S. Representatives and Senator why it is important to protect TRIO funding.”
