Camden Faculty of Arts and Sciences Senior Administrative Assistant Andrea Ohrenich has joined the URA Executive Board. Ohrenich has been involved with the local since the initial organizing efforts prior to 2007 certification and has been a Building Representative on campus.
“I’m so honored for the opportunity to make a real difference for Camden members and the union as a whole,” Ohrenich said. Ohrenich said she is a proud Rutgers graduate, having attended Douglass College, and a supporter of Women’s education. She returned to work at Rutgers in 2002 in Student Accounting and Registrar roles in New Brunswick before transferring to Camden Campus.
Ohrenich said she hopes to encourage more members to become more engaged with our union. Her nomination was approved at the September Executive Board meeting to fill an open vacancy.
Local President Christine O’Connell recommended Ohrenich for new role based on her active participation and history of involvement with the local. “We are looking forward to working more closely with Andrea, who has been a positive force within the union and thank Corey Therrien for his many contributions to the board,” said O’Connell. Many new Camden members meet Therrien in his union role welcoming members at Camden Campus new employee orientation, a function he will continue to perform.
In her personal life, Andrea supports various non-profit organizations including the Pinelands Alliance, Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Rescue and South Jersey Water Trust. She volunteers for the Community Cat Club of Bellmawr by fostering and assisting with their trap and release program for feral cats in her community.
