Here’s what your colleagues are saying:
- I appreciate seeing my colleagues 3 times per week in-person and having the option to have a quiet space at home twice per week so I can work uninterrupted. I also love not having to commute those days, as it lets me drop my daughter off at school before work, which I treasure.
- The workload has increased over the years with little to no compensation.
- I find it very frustrating to watch Rutgers continue to be so top heavy with administrators that are not needed. We are in desperate need of staff in offices with direct contact with the students. We need more facilities workers to maintain our crumbling infrastructure. We do not need more vice presidents and vice chancellors and high paid coaches. We need better administrative support for our students and more classes!
- •If I were to work at a for-profit … I would be making at least 50% more than I make now.
- Salaries are inconsistent. New administrative hires are now being paid more than those who have were hired only 3 years ago. Admin Assistants are extremely overworked and underpaid with no compensation for their duties. Management does not care, so they are leaving.
Do you agree? URA members’ voices are important in determining our priorities when we bargain our successor contract. Issues of importance include pay raises, job security, and other subjects that impact our working conditions. Together we can make improvements, but first we need everyone to participate and identify priorities for bargaining.
