Bargaining Report #7

Bargaining Team

Jeannette Mullins, Cook Lead Steward and Bargaining Team member

During our morning session on Wednesday, June 3, management again came to the bargaining table unprepared and deliberately unwilling to provide us with the information we requested more than a month ago. They continue to hold off on countering our proposals, using “economics” as an excuse, yet they have not provided us with any actual dollar amounts.

Management expressed reluctance to renew Article 61 (Self-Initiated In-Grade Adjustment Pilot Program), citing administrative issues. This eliminates our right to initiate a raise for ourselves, based on the additional work we do.

We spent the entire afternoon in fact-finding questions and answers with management regarding Article 35 (Reclassification), Article 34 (Professional Development), Article 46 (Tuition Remission) and Article 44 (Sick Leave). Our discussion was very productive, but did not lead to any agreement.

We have also submitted proposals to Management for Article 47 (Union Employer Information Exchange) and Article 55 (to improve Vision Care).

They confirmed that they rejected our previous proposals on Articles 49 (Union Representation) and 53 (Use of University Facilities) and said they are currently working on a counter-proposal for Article 44 (Sick Leave).
