Many URA members have been in the same job titles for long periods of time, going above and beyond while building skills and developing expertise in supporting the university’s mission. Rutgers should acknowledge these significant contributions to making Rutgers a better place for students, faculty, research and community service with salary increases for long-term members. Does that sound familiar to you?
In our last contract negotiations, our bargaining team put forth proposals for longevity pay increases and the resulting Article 61 – Self-Initiated In-Grade Salary Adjustment Pilot Program – Union of Rutgers Administrators has been implemented on a pilot basis.
This is for URA members who have been in the same title for five years, are not currently receiving acting pay at a higher rate and haven’t submitted a reclassification raise increase in the last 12 months.
“We negotiated this provision to support career progression by rewarding longevity,” said URA-AFT President Christine O’Connell. “Since this is a pilot program, it could end when the current contract expires, which is June 30, 2026 so we want to encourage eligible members consider this as an option now.”
Pro Tip: To apply for a self-initiated in-grade salary, eligible employees must submit their requests to UHR via ServiceNow on the UHR One Source portal available at URA-AFT Employee Resources | uhr.rutgers.edu
