Over the past few months, hundreds of members completed the contract survey to identify key issues and set bargaining priorities. Comments are particularly helpful since we have more than 360 job titles reflecting varied responsibilities and challenges. Together, these results help us look to negotiations with common sense proposals reflecting our collective experience at Rutgers.
What brings our diverse membership together are reflected in responses to rankings:
- The need to be compensated fairly for our experience and expertise in a high cost state;
- controlling costs which otherwise detract from overall compensation such as health insurance and parking; and
- retaining benefits such as flexibility and job security which contribute to overall satisfaction.
Sneak Peak “Rank Your Top Three Issues:” Responses tabulated on March 13 clearly indicate the most important issue by far is “Compensation,” following by “Flex Work” then “Affordable Health Insurance.”
For the next few weeks, we will drill into member comments and propose follow up questions for clarifications. Our contract team is working on proposals based on these responses, so your overall assessment and comments have been invaluable.
